• Distributed & Unified Commands During the War in the Pacific, 1941-1945

    I have been reading “Mastering the Art of Command” by Trent Hone this week. Mr. Hone frequently discusses Admiral Chester Nimitz’s philosophy on distributed and unified command, along with the history of how the United States organized the command of military forces in the Pacific Ocean and surrounding areas throughout World War II. I wanted to consolidate some information about the organization and reorganization of Allied command and control in the Pacific during the war and briefly discuss its importance for modern naval officers.

    I became interested in making a blog because of Tom Scott‘s weekly newsletter, which is probably the piece of internet content I most closely follow every week. He often links to other people’s websites or blogs. I think it is cool to read a work written by somebody who is passionate enough about a topic to post about it casually in long-form. These blogs inspired me to create my own, to confront new ideas head-on.
